‘n boom om nêrens om te gaan
die grond so vrugteloos
wortels soek genadeloos
‘n mense oseaan wat my omring
die water is maar kou
met die liefde wat ontbreek
en jou in die rug steek
Vrugteloos is die oues se raad
Maak ek op myself staat
Die lewe sien daar anders uit
Hul raad uitgeslyt.
Soek my eie wysheid
Sonder sukses na heiligheid
By brakwater vertoef ek
Wat sal ek anders lek.
