Die roos se geur is nie so soet

Ook nie die oggendson se groet

Nie die bloeisel of die blaar

Soos die kyk in jou oë-paar

 

Nie die reën in die laan

Of die reënboog se baan

Ook nie die wolk so sag

Soos jou glimlag

 

Soos water oor klippe kabbel

‘n fee prinses in ‘n fabel

vars soos die oggend dou
