Ek was verras en teleurgesteld
‘n teleustellende verrassing?
Daar was geboortes en dood
Dooies wat gebore word?
Ek was wys en dwaas
Miskien ‘n wyse dwaas?
Ek het gewerk en gerus
‘n rustige werker?
Het gepraat en stilgebly
‘n stilswyende babbelbek?
Het liefgehad en is gehaat
‘n gehate liefling?
Die een kanselleer die ander
En waarmee bly ek oor….
