As my lewe aan ‘n draadjie hang
En U ver weg voel
En die aasvoëls om my woel
Vader wat moet ek doen om U wil te ken?
Sodat ek oor my vyand kan wen
Die wysheid en insig te kan hê
Totdat ek my hoof veilig neer kan lê
Vader wat moet ek doen om U gawes te kry?
Miskien is ek dan eers vry
en geduldig is met die armes van gees
om soos Jesus te wees
